First Impressions:

The Ish’s Poppin Phattie has an innovative design to it with its unique cupped head. Upon taking it out of the package and handling the frog, I noticed the soft body that is sure to collapse when bit.  The hooks appear to be perfectly matched with the body style of this frog. The legs come in the ideal length for walking, about 2.25 inches in length. One more feature of this topwater that I really like is the internal rattles. Overall, this frog looks like a good addition to anyone’s tackle box.

After taking this frog to a local grass-hole of a pond, I found that it has a great action. With a slow, light twitch of the rod, it is easy to make the Poppin Phattie walk in place (a proven enticer of big bass). Picking up the pace with more aggressive rod-twitches forces the frog to show how it got its name. It creates a large commotion on top by spitting water and making a popping sound. When bit, the frog collapses easily, and has a good hook-up ratio.

Why They Will Benefit Co Anglers:

What I really like about this frog is the ability to work it either at a slow, subtle pace, or at a fast, aggressive pace. Due to the fact that it is easy to walk, and has the option of throwing a lot of water, this frog could be an excellent choice for a co. If faced with the situation of frogging behind your boater, the Poppin Phattie could prove successful due to the different action it has in comparison to standard frogs. Another situation where this bait would excel is in windy or muddy-water conditions when a normal frog doesn’t displace enough water.
